Obama Wins Nomination with Web 2.0

Barack Obama used a Facebook co-founder, a social networking strategy, Blue State Digital,  and MoveableType. An Obama volunteer, that also helped found Facebook, helped develop a ground-up social networking strategy. Obama's Facebook Fan Page has 893,000 fans and I couldn't find a Facebook Fan Page for Hilary Clinton.

Blue State Digital creates online tools that distribute the campaign and always volunteers to make and log phone calls, take donations, manage voters lists and phone call scripts. MoveableType is easy to use blog software that lots of people use.

These turn-key, low-cost, easy to access tools have been key to Obama's strategy. Mashing these tools together to allow volunteers to access from their homes across the country and then to reach others is a key asset to the campaign.

Mass collaboration, Web 2.0 tools, and social networks on display and available to all. Powerful in the right hands. I wonder if it can also be used for evil and if there is the equivalent Red State Digital.
